Jimmie Åkesson presents SD's election manifesto at Stora Torget in Nyköping

The colorful promotional material is a clue, but otherwise the mood is more reminiscent of that which can arise when fans are waiting for a pop star.

Several hundred people, predominantly young people of high school age, have gathered at Stora Torget in Nyköping to see Jimmie Åkesson present SD's election manifesto.

Or just to see Jimmie Åkesson. When SD's bus rolls in at the far end of the square, there is a rush in the crowd. Åkesson is led in from the other side and speaks.

The election manifesto has ten points. At the top is what SD calls the fuel promise: Sweden must have the EU's lowest price at the pump.

How dare you promise that?

- We must pursue a policy that enables that. We must keep a very low reduction obligation, or preferably have none at all. There is still some money to be made on the diesel there. We must be at the EU's minimum level in terms of fuel taxes, says Jimmie Åkesson to DN after the square meeting.

When Jimmie Åkesson spoke about migration policy and immigration during his speech, he was greeted by cheers.

- The large immigration has affected all parts of society. When you address those problems, many voters see that we are the guarantor of responsible politics, he says.

Åkesson is convinced that migration is still the single most important issue for SD's voters, and the election manifesto consequently also contains a migration promise. Åkesson promises to "maintain" the policy implemented within the Tidö collaboration, but he wants to go further than that.

- On the one hand, we want to convert permanent residence permits into temporary ones, based on the investigation that will soon be completed at the Ministry of Justice. Another thing is to further screw up the subsidy systems. There is a lot to be done, for example, review livelihood support if you don't learn Swedish fast enough and don't show interest in it, he says.
