Court suspends installation of wind banners in Porto Alegre due to warning of heavy rain and winds

The Civil Defense of Porto Alegre sent a letter to the Regional Electoral Court asking that 'wind banners' be avoided until Tuesday in the city. The request was accepted by the Court. The reason is the forecast of heavy rain and winds of up to 70 km/h, which could cause accidents.

The judge in charge of the 114th Electoral Zone of Porto Alegre, Daniel Henrique Dummer, signed a decision determining the temporary suspension of the installation of electoral campaign materials, specifically wind banners, on public roads in the capital.

"The decision was based on Meteorological Alert No. 21, issued by the municipal protection body, which classifies the risk of bad weather as "High". The duration of the restriction follows the period of the alert, which runs from 6pm this Sunday (27th) until 6pm next Tuesday (29th)", says an excerpt from a statement sent by TRE.

The capital of Rio Grande do Sul is expected to record significant volumes of precipitation, with accumulations that can reach 165 millimeters in 48 hours.

The climate scenario also warns of electrical discharges, potential occasional hail and fluctuations in the level of Lake Guaíba.

Forecast for Monday

Monday (28) maintains unstable weather due to the organization of a new frontal system. Civil Defense warns that the total rainfall between Saturday and Monday could exceed 200 millimeters in Campanha and the west of the state. In just 24 hours, volumes can exceed 170 millimeters in these regions.

In the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, Monday will be very cloudy and rainy, with the possibility of heavy showers and storms, according to Climatempo. The region is also part of the most widespread area of ​​instability in the State.

In RS, damage spread by hailstorm

A balance released late this Sunday afternoon by the Civil Defense shows an increase in the damage spread across RS due to the heavy hailstorm: 9,500 people affected, 2,200 houses damaged and one injured.

In Santiago, 5 thousand people were affected. In Alegrete, 2 thousand residents, including 1 injured and leaving 10 people homeless. In Capão do Cipó, 820 people were affected, and Catuípe, 800 residents.
