Cheese dairy recalls cheese nationwide due to listeria

Out of caution, a village cheese dairy from Bühlerzell, northeast of Stuttgart, is recalling several products that were in their ripening cellar and are or were sold to organic markets nationwide. Listeria monocytogenes - a bacterium - was detected in a batch of wine farmer's cheese. “As it cannot be ruled out that other goods stored in the same ripening cellar are affected, we are recalling all batches of the varieties mentioned as a precautionary measure,” said the cheese dairy.

All best-before dates up to October 30, 2026 and the identity code DE BW 445 EG in all 16 federal states are affected. According to the cheese dairy, the products were sold through food retailers, natural food and delicatessen stores, butcher shops, farm shops, restaurants and its own sales outlet.

The cheese dairy's products were sold as self-service and counter goods. Specifically, the recall affects the following cheese products:

Diarrhea and fever are clear signs

Listeria disease is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, seniors and people with weakened immune systems.
