The investigation carried out by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri Prison in 2011, continues.
Within the scope of the investigation, Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener and Cüneyt Aysan, the scriptwriters of the Kurtlar Vadisi TV series, came to Silivri Courthouse to testify as "informed".
WHAT HAPPENED?
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement on his social media account regarding the investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri Prison in 2011.
Reminding that Kozinoğlu became ill in Silivri No. 1 L Type Closed Penitentiary Institution, where he was detained, on November 12, 2011, and was transferred to Silivri State Hospital, Gürlek said, "It was determined that he had died when he was taken to the hospital. In the investigation carried out after the incident, camera records and medical documents were examined, witness statements were taken from the penal institution, gendarmerie and medical staff, his ward mates and the deceased's wife, on April 10. "It was decided in 2012 that there was no need for prosecution." He used the following expressions:
Minister Gürlek stated that the file was re-examined by the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department and noted the following:
"In the light of the evaluations made by our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the decision of non-prosecution was lifted with the decision of the Silivri Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 26 August 2026, and the investigation was restarted. Within the scope of the new investigation, a confidentiality decision was taken, a special investigation team was formed and comprehensive studies were initiated to re-clarify the incident in all its aspects. At today's stage, our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated legal proceedings against 11 suspects who were working in the penal institution on the date of the incident, 10 suspects were detained, and 1 suspect was detained." "It has been determined that he is abroad as a FETO fugitive."
One of the 10 suspects taken into custody was arrested, and 9 suspects were released, 7 of them on condition of judicial control.
During the ongoing work within the scope of the investigation, 9 more suspects, including one reporter, one cameraman and 7 healthcare workers, were detained.
The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were sent to the courthouse. Three suspects, including the reporter, whose statements were taken by the prosecutor's office, were referred to the judgeship with the request of arrest, 3 suspects, including the cameraman, with the request of "ban on going abroad" and "signing", and the other 3 suspects were referred to the judgeship with the request of judicial control in the form of "ban on going abroad".
The judgeship decided to arrest 3 suspects, including the reporter, and to impose judicial control measures on 6 suspects, including the cameraman.
Within the scope of the investigation, the number of detainees was 4 and the number of suspects against whom judicial control measures were taken was 13.

Meanwhile, upon the request of the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the burial process was carried out within the scope of the decision taken to determine the exact cause of Kozinoğlu's death and whether there was any third party intervention in his death.
