Second wave in Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation: 9 suspects were referred to the courthouse

There has been a remarkable development in the reopened investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu in Silivri Prison in 2011. The procedures of the 9 suspects detained in the second wave operation were completed at the gendarmerie and the suspects were referred to the courthouse.

SECOND WAVE IN THE INVESTIGATION

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, efforts are continuing to uncover new evidence regarding Kozinoğlu's death. Within the scope of the second operation, 9 people, including journalist Selahattin Günday, cameraman İdris Tiftikçi and healthcare workers, were detained. It was learned that the suspects were sent to the courthouse after their procedures were completed.

THE FILE WAS OPENED AGAIN AFTER YEARS

Kozinoğlu was sent to the hospital after falling ill in Silivri Prison on November 12, 2011 and died. The investigation carried out at that time concluded in 2012 with the decision that there was no need for prosecution.

However, the file was reopened on August 26, 2026, when the decision of non-prosecution was lifted. Within the scope of the new investigation, a special team was formed to shed light on all aspects of the incident and different evidence was re-examined.

KOZİNOĞLU'S GRAVE WAS OPENED

One of the most striking steps in the investigation was the conquest of the grave. It was decided to take samples from Kozinoğlu's grave in order to determine the exact cause of death and to reveal whether there was any third-party intervention.

Bone, soil and other samples taken; It was planned to be evaluated together with prison camera footage, 112 records and hospital documents. Following the investigations, a new assessment of the cause of death is expected to be made by the Forensic Medicine Institute.
