Kim Si-woo Seeks Elusive 2026 Win in PGA Tour Playoffs

SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korean golfer Kim Si-woo, despite being ranked fourth in the FedEx Cup standings without a win in 2026, remains confident in his abilities as he prepares for the BMW Championship, the second of three PGA Tour playoff tournaments.

Kim, who last won in January 2023, acknowledged the pressure to secure a victory in the remaining two events but emphasized his self-belief and improved game consistency. He highlighted his ability to adapt shots based on hole locations and his patience in scoring.

The BMW Championship, starting Thursday at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, features the top 50 players in FedEx Cup points. Kim is virtually assured a spot in the exclusive Tour Championship, now with a fairer format where all players start from scratch, unlike previous years where higher-ranked players had a stroke advantage.

Kim welcomed this format change, seeing it as an opportunity for all, including lower-ranked players, to compete equally. He vowed to give his all in the next two weeks to achieve his seasonal goal of at least one win.
