Second wave operation against Kocaeli-based 'Gemini' criminal organization: 12 detained

Kocaeli Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams carried out an operation against the 'Ikizler' criminal organization last June, after approximately 1.5 years of technical and physical surveillance.

M.Y., one of the twin brothers who is said to be the leader of the organization, was arrested for the crimes of 'usury', 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime', 'laundering assets resulting from crime' and 'plunder'. In addition to M.Y., 12 more people were arrested and put in prison.

FUGITIVE TWIN SISTER CAUGHT IN MILAS

The other twin brother, R.Y., who is said to be the other leader of the organization and is wanted as a fugitive. He was caught in a gendarmerie operation in Milas district of Muğla.

With the arrest of R.Y., who was caught while preparing to escape to Greece, the number of detainees within the scope of the investigation increased to 14.

2ND WAVE OPERATION

Continuing the investigation, gendarmerie teams followed the suspects who were allegedly continuing the organization's activities outside. Following the work, the second wave operation was organized this morning.

Simultaneous raids were made on the addresses of the suspects, including lawyers and business people. 12 suspects were detained.

The proceedings against the suspects at the gendarmerie are continuing.
