The wreckage of the plane of Turkish pilot Mehmet Çankaya, who disappeared in Colombia, was found.

Search and rescue teams reached the wreckage of the plane driven by Turkish businessman and pilot Mehmet Çankaya, who disappeared with five people in Colombia, three days later.

The Cessna T206 type aircraft lost radio contact at 09.23 local time after taking off from Condoto in the Choco region to go to the capital Bogota on September 13.

The plane was located in the mountainous region about a day later, but steep terrain and adverse weather conditions made it difficult for the teams to reach the wreckage.

In addition to Çankaya, there were four Colombian passengers on the plane. Authorities have not yet made a statement regarding the condition of the five people.

Since it was not possible to reach the accident site by road, search and rescue teams were planned to be sent down directly to the spot where the wreckage was located by helicopters. However, the steep and rugged nature of the land did not allow this.

Thereupon, the teams were dropped by helicopters to a point close to the accident site.

From there, rescuers walked through difficult terrain and managed to reach the wreckage of the plane by land three days after the crash. It was reported that the plane crashed into the mountainside and its parts were scattered over a wide area.

There were also four Colombian citizens passengers on the plane used by Çankaya.

Although the wreckage has been found, Colombian authorities have not yet shared official information about the condition of the five people on the plane.

Türkiye's Bogota Embassy also stated that it followed the search and rescue efforts closely from the first moment of the accident and was in contact with local authorities to reach Çankaya and the other passengers.

Revelo explained that he and Çankaya have been married for 10 years and have three daughters.

Stating that the couple's children are 18, 9 and 7 years old, Revelo said that he learned from social media that his eldest daughter's father was missing.

He stated that they tried to keep their two little daughters away from what was happening.

Explaining that the children do not go to school and their access to electronic devices is limited, Revelo said, "They think their fathers are on a trip." he said.
