Plane crash in Colombia: 5 people died, including Turkish pilot Mehmet Çankaya

It was determined that all 5 people on the plane lost their lives as a result of the crash of the plane driven by Turkish pilot and businessman Mehmet Çankaya in Colombia the previous day. Pilot Çankaya and 4 healthcare workers were on the plane, which disappeared shortly after taking off from Condoto Airport on September 13 and whose wreckage was found yesterday.

In his statement on his social media platform, Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella gave information about the fate of the Cessna T206 type plane registered HK4985, which disappeared on September 13 and was carrying 5 people.

President Espriella said, "With deep sadness, I confirm that there was a Cessna T206 aircraft with registration number HK-4985 that crashed while on a flight. Unfortunately, the authorities stated that all those on board were found dead." Espriella expressed his condolences to the relatives of the 5 people who lost their lives.

HE WAS KNOWN FOR HIS VOLUNTEER PILOT WORK

Colombian media reported that those who lost their lives on the plane were Turkish businessman and pilot Mehmet Çankaya and 4 healthcare workers Perla Costanza Alvarez, Sandy Garcia, Maria Guzman and Yuliza Figueredo.

The health workers were returning to Bogota after participating in humanitarian medical efforts for indigenous communities in the Condoto region of Choco. Turkish businessman Mehmet Çankaya was known for his tourism career and volunteer pilot work.
