Konya is Preparing for the Konyaspor-Palestine National Team Match in Solidarity with Palestine

The 2026 Organization of Islamic Cooperation Youth Capital, Konya, is hosting a very special match and different events in order to strongly announce the message of solidarity and brotherhood to the whole world in the face of the humanitarian tragedy in Palestine.

President of the World Union of Municipalities, COP31 Cities and Local Governments Ambassador and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who was in New York, United States of America, where he went to attend the United Nations General Assembly, "Urban 20 Mayors Summit 2026" and various meetings, stated in his statement here that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the greatest defender of the Palestinian cause in all the meetings he attended, and that they, as the President of Konya Metropolitan Municipality and UCLG, He said that they supported the oppressed Palestinian people in every meeting they attended.

Mayor Altay emphasized Konya's sensitivity to the Palestinian issue and said, "On the eve of October 7, our city is preparing for a very important organization on the evening of September 30. Our Konyaspor with the Palestinian National team will play an important match at the Konya Metropolitan Stadium on the evening of September 30. The important thing here is not the football match or whether to win or not, but to bring the Palestine issue to the world agenda. MEDAŞ Konya Metropolitan Stadium will host the friendly match between Konyaspor and the Palestine National Team on Wednesday, September 30, at 20.00. The aim is to reach the masses with the message of solidarity for Palestine with the live fight from TRT Sports officials.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), both the people of Konya and the Palestinian guests will meet in the same sense of brotherhood with the events that will be held around the stadium and on the field before the big meeting at the stadium on September 30, when the match will be played in Konya.

Various programs will be held at the Selçuklu Congress Center within the scope of the events in Konya, the 2026 Organization of Islamic Cooperation Youth Capital. One of the most notable of these programs will be the Palestine Youth Forum. In the special session of the forum; Bilal Erdoğan, President of the Knowledge Dissemination Foundation, who is the leading name in youth work, institutionalization of civil society and search for global justice in Türkiye, will meet with young people.

Selçuklu Congress Center will witness busy programs from the early hours of the morning. Other prominent topics within the scope of the program are as follows:

Gaza Court Sessions: International lawyers, human rights rapporteurs and civil society representatives will come together in the sessions that will start at 09.00 in the morning. Independent reports on the blockade in Gaza, civilian massacres and war crimes, as well as the court's basic legal findings, will be made public; Processes regarding international criminal mechanisms will be discussed.

Legends Speak Panel: In the panel titled "Legends Speak: Together for Palestine" organized within the framework of the Palestine Youth Forum, legendary names that have left their mark in the world of sports will meet with young people. Athletes; He will convey the unifying power of sports, the culture of resistance and the responsibility of giving voice to the screams of oppressed people from the fields in the light of his own experiences.

Cultural and Artistic Workshops: The rich cultural texture, historical and noble memory of resistance of Palestine will be presented to the participants through thematic exhibitions, visual art installations and workshops that will remain open throughout the day in the foyer areas of the Selçuklu Congress Center.
