Kremlin Statements on Ukraine and India

Spokesperson Peskov evaluated the current issues with Indian journalists before the BRICS summit to be held in the capital Moscow and India's capital New Delhi on September 12-13.

Recalling that US President Donald Trump's special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held talks in Moscow and Kiev, Peskov said, "Serious work is being carried out. US negotiators are spending time and making efforts to convey the approaches of both sides by holding contacts in Moscow and Kiev these days. We hope that certain progress will be made on this issue. We hope that negotiations will restart in a tripartite format with the participation of Russia, Ukraine and the USA." he said.

Arguing that they are approaching victory in the Ukrainian war, Peskov said:

"We are advancing on the front, but we are ready to switch to a peaceful solution at any time. We have to achieve our goals with a special military operation (in Ukraine) for now, but it is preferable for us to achieve our goals through peaceful means. In this context, we welcome attempts to resolve the Ukrainian issue. We really want the crisis to be resolved by peaceful means. Russia is open to this process."

Pointing out that they had previously announced the conditions for ending the war, Peskov stated that Ukraine did not want to end the war and said, "If there was someone in Kiev who would take responsibility and make difficult decisions, the war could have ended already. Some European countries are also provoking the Ukrainians." he said.

Peskov said that the removal of sanctions against Russia is on their agenda, but the solution to the Ukrainian crisis is a priority.

"We are ready to continue military equipment shipments to India"

Noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet within the scope of the BRICS summit, Peskov said that they plan to discuss the joint production of the "Su-57" type fighter jet with India.

Stating that they are ready to continue the shipment of military equipment to India, Peskov emphasized that they will fulfill the obligations regarding the supply of S-400 air defense systems.

Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia and India's approaches to Ukraine largely overlap.

"The situation with Iran negatively affects the world economy"

Regarding the situation with Iran, Spokesperson Peskov said, "Unfortunately, the situation is tense. This definitely affects the world economy negatively. Russia is in favor of free maritime transport, including tankers and commercial ships, in the Strait of Hormuz." he said.

Stating that they are ready to contribute to the improvement of relations between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Peskov said that they are in favor of ensuring security and mutual trust in the region.
