The critical date is approaching: NEW Party is preparing for its 1st Ordinary Congress

NEW Party continues its preparations for the 1st Ordinary Congress, which will be held at Ankara Arena Sports Hall on 14-15 November. In addition to the general presidential election, the party's new management staff will also be determined at the congress.

According to the information obtained by Anadolu Agency from party sources, NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel is expected to attend the congress as the only candidate. The emphasis is on applying the block list method in the Party Assembly (PM) and High Disciplinary Board (YDK) elections.

After the congress, changes are expected to be made in the PM and the Central Executive Board (MYK) to be formed.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL WILL BE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 8

The NEW Party, which started its activities as Türkiye's 189th political party on May 21 and became the main opposition party with the number of seats in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, held district and provincial congresses within the scope of the congress calendar that started on August 26.

In this process, the delegates who will vote at the congress were determined.

NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel will appear before party members in the primary elections to be held in 81 provinces on November 8. Those who become members of the party until November 5 will be able to vote in the primary election.

OVER 1000 DELEGATES WILL GO TO THE BALLOTS

In line with the decision taken at the meeting of the NEW Party Party Assembly on October 28, the congress will be held for two days on November 14-15.

In the first stage of the congress, the Congress Presidency Council will be elected. Then, Chairman Özgür Özel will address the party members.

Following the speeches, more than 1,000 delegates will vote to determine the new members of the 80-person Party Assembly and the 15-person High Disciplinary Board, as well as the general presidential election.

BLOCK LIST METHOD IS ON THE AGENDA

The method by which the congress will be held is also among the important topics within the party.

According to the NEW Party statute, the main method in PM and YDK elections is a blank list. However, it is possible to switch to the block list method with the written proposal of at least one tenth of the total number of congress members.

In the block list method, the main and reserve PM and the members of the YDK determined by the chairman candidate are presented for election on a single list. Gender and youth quotas must be complied with in the lists to be prepared.

According to party sources, the option of holding the congress with a block list, where Özgür Özel is expected to be the only candidate, is being considered.

A CHANGE IS EXPECTED IN THE PARTY MANAGEMENT

One of the notable topics of the congress will be the management list created by Özgür Özel.

It is expected that Özel will make changes in the current Party Assembly, which consists of the members of the founding board, and include new names in the Central Executive Board, which he will create after the congress.

According to the NEW Party statute, in order to become a chairman candidate, the written support of at least 5 percent of the total number of congress delegates is required.

The chairman is elected by secret ballot and by the absolute majority of the total number of members. If no results are obtained in the first two rounds, the candidate who receives the most votes in the third round becomes the chairman.

For candidacy for PM membership, signatures of at least 10 delegates are required.

VISIT TO ANITKABIR AFTER THE CONGRESS

While preparations for the stage, sound and lighting systems for the congress to be held at Ankara Arena Sports Hall are continuing, transportation and accommodation arrangements for the delegates are also being carried out.

Representatives of other political parties and spectators will be invited to the congress. Accreditation will be applied to press members who will follow the elections.

Within the scope of the Political Parties Law, the congress will be held under the supervision and control of the Supreme Electoral Council. Election results can be objected to within two days.

The chairman, PM and YDK members to be determined at the congress are planned to visit Anıtkabir on Saturday, November 21.

At the Party Assembly meeting to be held after the visit, the new Central Executive Board members of the NEW Party will be determined.
