Busy week in the Turkish Grand National Assembly: Mecca Joint Defense Agreement and Turkish Red Crescent Bill will be discussed

It is expected that the bill regarding the Mecca Agreement will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly this week. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance is among the five ministries whose budgets will be discussed in the Planning and Budget Commission.

THIS WEEK IN THE ASSEMBLY

Intensive work will continue in the commissions of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the General Assembly. It is expected that the discussions on the Turkish Red Crescent Bill will continue from where they left off in the General Assembly this week. According to the bill that regulates the duties and powers, financial rights and exemptions of the Turkish Red Crescent independently, strategic products can be procured from Red Crescent subsidiaries without tender in case of disasters and emergencies.

The Turkish Red Crescent will be the authorized institution to accept aid coming to Turkey from the International Red Crescent-Red Cross network. Cash compensation will be paid to personnel working in the region for Red Crescent activities in times of emergency, disaster and war.

After the first three articles of the Turkish Red Crescent Law Proposal, which has a total of 9 articles, were discussed, the discussions of the Law Proposal on Certain Investment Funds, which were decided to be liquidated due to the payments to be made to the shareholders, were brought forward.

On the other hand, the bill regarding the Mecca Agreement is expected to be put on the agenda of the General Assembly this week. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan is expected to inform the General Assembly about the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed by Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on August 7, 2026. The bill regarding the Mecca Agreement was accepted by the Foreign Affairs Commission last week.

THE BUDGET OF FIVE MINISTRIES WILL BE DISCUSSED

The 2027 budget proposal marathon continues in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The Planning and Budget Commission will discuss the 2027 budgets of the Ministry of Industry and Technology tomorrow, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance on Thursday, and the 2027 budgets of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Court of Accounts reports on Friday.

KIT COMMISSION

The SOE Commission continues to discuss the balance sheets and final accounts of the public economic enterprises, subsidiaries, institutions and affiliates within its scope of control for the years 2023 and 2024. This week, General Directorate of State Airports Authority, General Directorate of Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation, T.R. The accounts of the General Directorate of State Railways Enterprise, TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, TCDD Teknik Mühendislik ve Müşavirlik AŞ, Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry AŞ will be examined.

Group meetings of the parties are expected to be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
