Water crisis in the Zławieś Wielka commune: Intake points, closed schools and unknown cause of contamination

Water collection points and support for residents

According to RMF FM reporter Stanisław Pawłowski, due to the crisis, there are eight permanent points in the area where residents can obtain water.

Additionally, on Saturday, fire trucks appeared with water for household purposes. Tap water may only be used to flush toilets - do not wash with it, even after boiling.

The commune also took care of the elderly and social welfare recipients by providing them with five-liter tanks of water. Disinfection of waterworks is ongoing, but the results of further tests will have to wait until Monday.

Unknown cause of infection

As Marcin Swaczyna, the Mayor of the Zławieś Wielka Commune, admits, the specific cause of the contamination has not yet been determined.

It could have been, for example, an infection resulting from a water supply connection, of which there are plenty in the area. We are a commune that is building and expanding. A lot of private houses are being built and each of these houses is connected to the water supply - explains the mayor.

Schools closed until the situation improves

Due to the lack of drinking water, classes were suspended in two schools - in Górsko and Przysiek. The decision to resume classes will be made after obtaining test results and confirming water safety.

Residents are looking forward to Monday, hoping for a quick solution to the problem and a return to normality.
