KT applies 5G SA network slicing to operate 25 wireless CCTVs at the Seoul International Fireworks Festival

KT[030200] announced on the 6th that it provided 5G-based video control and safety management technology at the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 held on the 5th.

KT participated as the official technology sponsor of this event and applied 5G standalone mode (SA)-based network slicing technology to create a communication environment necessary for safety management even in crowded situations.

KT operated 25 wireless CCTVs equipped with network slicing in the Yeouido and Ichon Hangang Park areas and transmitted images in real time to the general situation room. In addition, 10 emergency communication terminals were provided to safety personnel to help manage visitor movement and respond to emergency situations.

Network slicing is a technology that independently secures a dedicated communication network separate from general traffic, similar to operating a dedicated bus lane on a congested road.

KT announced that it is currently the only one of the three domestic mobile communication companies to operate a 5G SA commercial network, and that it is continuously verifying the technical stability and field application potential of network slicing by utilizing this.

Taek-gyun Oh, managing director of the network strategy division of KT's network division, said, "This Seoul International Fireworks Festival is an example that confirmed the commercial network operation capabilities of 5G SA network slicing and the possibility of using it for public safety," and added, "We will continue to develop customized network services tailored to the needs of customers and industrial sites in the future."
