Little Wings Cinema Offers Films and Entertainment to Palestinian Children in Gaza

Little Wings Cinema entrepreneurs visit tent camps and shelters in Gaza, offering Palestinian children the opportunity to watch cartoons and have fun with various activities such as face painting and local dances.

The "Little Wings Cinema" initiative is a continuation of the Gaza Children's Cinema Festival, which was held in Gaza between November and December 2025.

The mobile cinema established for Palestinian children aims to reach 500 thousand children across Gaza.

Showing a movie in Gaza, where even basic needs are sometimes unavailable, and moving from one place to another can cause security problems as Israel continues its attacks.

Additionally, with the power grid almost completely collapsed, employees are having to find power sources to run projectors and other equipment.

Esma Debabiş, one of the project team, said in a statement to the AA correspondent that they held film screenings for children in the camps and shelter centers where displaced Palestinians stayed in the northern and southern regions of the Gaza Strip.

Stating that they aim not only for children to watch movies, but also for Palestinian children to get rid of fear and sadness and have fun, even for a short time, Debabiş said about the difficulties they face: "We face various difficulties such as transportation and electricity supply, so we try to provide the necessary electricity to operate the equipment in each show." he said.

The name "Little Wings" was chosen for Palestinian children

Debabiş stated that the name "Little Wings" for the mobile cinema was chosen for the children who have been experiencing fear, losing their loved ones and experiencing the distress of displacement for about 3 years.

Palestinian Debabiş said, "We named our cinema Little Wings because we believe that every child has two wings full of imagination and hope, and we try to give these wings the chance to fly, regardless of the circumstances." he said.

Stating that children in Gaza were deprived of similar activities during the period of attacks, Debabiş stated that the events they organized took Palestinian children out of the effects of fear and devastation, at least for a while.

In the statement made by the non-governmental organization Meşharavi Foundation, which is the coordinator of the project, it was stated that the aim of the mobile cinema is to provide psychological and social support to Palestinian children through art and to open a space where they can express themselves, play games and dream.

In the statement made by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on April 30, it was stated that almost all of the approximately one million children in the Gaza Strip needed mental health and psychosocial support services due to the war.

While 58 percent of Gazans face "critical or catastrophic" housing needs, 84 percent of Palestinian families are trying to hold on to life in unsuitable conditions.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, 1,344 Palestinians have lost their lives and 4,481 have been injured in the attacks carried out by the Israeli army since the ceasefire came into force in Gaza on October 10, 2025.

In Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, 73 thousand 651 Palestinians lost their lives and more than 174 thousand were injured.
