Woman sentenced to prison for gross breach of the peace after prolonged violence against husband and children

According to the district court, the woman has subjected the man to repeated violence, control and humiliation for a long time.

On one occasion, the man is said to have been abused for about an hour and a half with punches, grabs around the neck, knees in the back, bites on the back of the head and pressure on the eyes. In the man's mobile phone recording from the occasion, the woman can be heard saying: "Now you can only trust that I will release in time, before you die and get brain damage".

The district court judges that the son has been harmed by having witnessed the violence and by being involved in the conflicts between the parents.

In the evidence, the prosecutor had, among other things, the man's audio recordings, diary entries and photographs.

The woman has denied most of the violence and stated that she acted in self-defence. The district court did not agree and sentenced the woman to two years and six months in prison for two cases of gross breach of the peace. She is also ordered to pay damages to the husband and son of a total of just over SEK 225,000.
