Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir said, "Google has opened a box specifically for Türkiye. You enter the information you want to be removed and within 30 days it must inform you whether this information can be removed or not."

Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) welcomes its visitors at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.

KVKK President Bilir said that "it is a person's most natural right to remove and not make visible lawful and accurate information previously published on digital media, the internet and search engines."

Bilir stated that people can apply for the information they want to be removed from search results with the application box that Google created specifically for Turkey.

In the statement, it was stated that Google had to respond to the applications within 30 days.

Bilir said:

"Even if we forget, search engines, especially Google, do not forget. This information published about us in the past constantly appears and people are disturbed by it. To be more concrete, when you search on Google with a person's name and surname, there is information about the person from 15-20, even 40 years ago.

And people are disturbed by the constant visibility of these news. They want this name and surname not to be visible on search engines and they want it to be removed from the index. Google opened a box specifically for Türkiye. You enter the information you want to be removed and within 30 days it must inform you whether this information can be removed or not. "Later, upon Google's response, if the response is negative, an application is made to the institution and the board evaluates it."

"TECHNOLOGY AND PRIVACY ARE NOT OPPOSITE CONCEPTS"

Stating that artificial intelligence is becoming more widespread day by day, Bilir stated that people's lives are also affected by it.

Emphasizing that their institutions constantly provide information about artificial intelligence, Bilir said:

"Artificial intelligence reaches a result by obtaining most information and data. As artificial intelligence and technology develop, the need for privacy in people actually develops. So, I would like to say this very clearly. Technology and privacy are not opposing concepts. There should be both technology and privacy.

We must approach artificial intelligence in a human-centered manner. Artificial intelligence should be transparent and people should have control over themselves when necessary. Because after all, artificial intelligence also processes personal data. Therefore, this data should not be used randomly or arbitrarily, but should be used in an accountable manner, and artificial intelligence should be approached with an understanding that serves humans, not as a replacement for humans."
