Cyber attack statement from KVKK: 17 textile companies were targeted

CYBER criminals continue to target critical sectors as well as cyber attacks on commercial sectors to capture customer information. Although the National Incident Response Center (USOM) detects cyber attacks early and warns companies, the incomplete precautions taken by companies make the attackers' job easier.

Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) recently announced that 17 textile companies were the target of cyber attackers. These companies were announced as Ersoylar Spor Giyim, İlvi Shoes, Askı Nişantaşı Tekstil, Yakupoğlu Tekstil, Beauty Omelette Tekstil, Emre Kuzey Retailing, Est 1923 Retail and Interactive Retailing, Antrepo Retailing, Avva Retailing, Ayaydın Tekstil, Bg Store Retailing, FF Tekstil, MNT Tekstil, Setre Giyim Tekstil and Coşkun Ready Giyim. While it was stated that the name, surname, e-mail address, address, telephone number and user login information in the identity, communication and transaction security categories were affected by the violation, a study was initiated to determine the number of affected people.

A FINE WILL BE APPLIED

According to the legislation, companies are obliged to protect the information of their customers and employees. "Data Security Violation Penalty" is imposed on companies that steal information. The amount of the penalty increases depending on the size of the data breach and the number of people affected.
