The Hearing Ombudsman has received several communications in the second quarter of 2026 regarding references of sensual and sexual content made in Masterchef, after which the program has decided to raise the rating to +12. This is reflected in its quarterly report by the Hearing Ombudsman, who acts as defender of the citizen's right to truthful, independent and plural information, and to decent entertainment.
The Hearing Ombudsman "shares concern about some comments and attitudes that can sometimes be seen on MasterChef, a program that has a good number of boys and girls and family audiences in general among its viewers," she explains in the document. Among the most notable issues that the Ombudsman has managed in the second quarter are Holy Week because "many processions were issued to be a secular and non-denominational state" (52 communications); the novel The Promise because "the plots are lengthening and the series has become boring" (40 communications); or cuts in programming to broadcast promotions and advertising.
Current affairs programs are criticized by some viewers because "they broadcast images in a loop, they abuse the 'breaking news' alert, changes of shots", as well as because "they are not neutral or rigorous", in reference to Mañaneros 360, Malas lenguas, Directo al grain and La Hora de La 1, with about 30 communications in total.
As for MasterChef, they believe that they should not have invited the contestants Ofelia and the actress Paz Vega, who "brag about not paying taxes in Spain" (23 communications) and that "more and more disrespect and behavior that borders on harassment are allowed" (20 communications).
