Lee Sang-kyun receives Kazakhstan's Order of Dostyk for educational cooperation

Lee Sang-kyun, board chairman of Seoul Cyber University, received one of Kazakhstan’s highest state honors from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Seoul on Monday for his contributions to educational exchanges and closer bilateral ties.

The Order of Dostyk, Second Class, recognizes Kazakh and foreign nationals who have contributed to peace, friendship between nations, international cooperation and social harmony.

Tokayev personally presented the decoration during his state visit to Korea in recognition of Lee’s role in expanding exchanges between Korea and Kazakhstan and strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

“Receiving Kazakhstan’s prestigious Order of Dostyk is both an honor and deeply meaningful,” Lee said. “We will continue to expand educational and cultural exchanges and lay the groundwork for cooperation that allows future generations to grow together.”

Lee has worked to broaden cooperation between Korean and Kazakh universities, particularly through exchanges in advanced online education.

Seoul Cyber University said his efforts have helped foster future talent and deepen mutual understanding among students and educators in both countries.

Lee also serves as board chairman of the Shinil Educational Foundation, which operates Seoul Cyber University as well as Shinil Middle and High Schools.

Founded in 2000, Seoul Cyber University was accredited by the then Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development under the Lifelong Education Act as a four-year institution authorized to award bachelor’s degrees.
