Legacy of country singer Rick is remembered by his brother after plane crash

The legacy of country singer Rick, who died aged 59 in a helicopter crash, remains alive in the memories of fans and family. In an interview with TV Anhanguera, the artist's brother, Francisco Carvalho, recalled stories about his career and his time with the singer, including a phone call he received from an admirer and which he considers a “portrait” of the scope of the countryman's work.

According to Francisco, the woman, a resident of Mato Grosso, got his contact information to tell him how a song composed by Rick changed her life.

"She called me and said: 'Your brother's music saved me.'

For Francisco, the report reinforced the dimension of the legacy left by his brother and the impact of his compositions on the lives of thousands of people.

"My brother did not receive the gift of music just to make money. I am sure that thousands of people love music and love my brother not only because he was an artist, but because his songs made a difference in the lives of many people", he stated.

The story, according to Francisco, is one of the examples of how Rick's songs went beyond commercial success and deeply impacted the lives of fans in different regions of the country.

Named Geraldo Antônio de Carvalho, singer Rick was born in Monte do Carmo, on December 5, 1966, when Tocantins was still Goiás territory. He was married to Geralda Helena de Carvalho for over 40 years. The couple had two children, Mônica and Victor Henrique, and four grandchildren.

The singer was buried in Sorocaba (SP) on Thursday (24), at the Pax Cemetery, which is in the east of the city. The aircraft crash in Santa Catarina also killed businessman Bruno Avelar, videomaker Paulo Soares, pilot Antônio Roberto Nóbrega de Araújo and co-pilot Leopoldo Barros Teixeira.

Francisco also said that he has followed his brother's musical trajectory since before his fame and considers himself a big fan of Rick. For him, the singer's success was not limited to his artistic career, but also to the impact his songs had on people's lives.

On TV Anhanguera, Francisco said that he once received a call from a fan who said she had found comfort in one of Rick's songs during a difficult time in her life. According to him, the story reinforced the perception that his brother's songs had a special meaning for thousands of people.

“My brother didn’t become an artist, he didn’t receive the gift of music, it was just to make money,” said Francisco, when talking about Rick’s relationship with music.

According to Francisco, Rick's songs also marked the love stories and relationships of many fans.

When talking about his brother's death, Francisco said he believes that Rick fulfilled his mission and stated that the possibility of a reunion in the future is a way of finding comfort in the face of loss.
