LINE Halloween special effects not appearing? The official guide teaches you how to check the settings and use it once.

To welcome Halloween, LINE has launched a limited-time chat room special effect. As long as you enter specified keywords, Xiong Da and Sally in Halloween costumes will appear in surprise. However, if you do not see special effects after entering keywords, it may be related to the LINE version or chat room settings. LINE officials have also announced applicable versions and checking methods to remind users to pay attention to relevant restrictions.

LINE Taiwan’s official blog announced today (23rd) that this year’s Halloween chat room special effects will be available from now until October 31 at 10:59 pm. Users only need to enter the three keywords "Halloween", "Trick or Treat" or "Halloween" in the chat room to trigger the limited-time special effects.

However, not all versions of LINE can use this feature. LINE officially states that iPhone users must use LINE iOS 9.15.0 or above, and Android users must use LINE 10.2.0 or above. The computer version also supports it, but must be updated to LINE 8.7 or above. In addition, operating systems below Android 7.1 do not support chat room special effects due to performance reasons.

LINE also reminds that if the mobile phone uses LINE version 12.0.0 or above, after entering the keyword and successfully triggering the special effect, the keyword will be presented in the form of a link. If you want to enjoy the Halloween special effects again, you do not need to re-enter the text. Just click on the keyword link in the chat room to play it again.

If your phone complies with the event period and applicable version, but still cannot display the Halloween special effects, LINE recommends trying to re-open the app first, or check whether the "Chat Room Background Effects" function is turned off.

Users can confirm by following the path on LINE home page → Settings → Chat → Chat room background effects. LINE stated that this feature is turned on by default. If it has been manually turned off before, just turn it on again and enter the specified keyword to try to trigger the special effects.
