17' Penalty Sharks

The Storm lie on the tackled player and it's a penalty.

Now Shawn Blore goes off for an HIA for the Storm - I didn't see how that one played out but he doesn't look great.

Fox Sports are saying that Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown is being taken to hospital as a precaution with a sore neck after that early shot.

Hugo Peel has scored! The Storm moved the ball to the right, there was so much space.

The Sharks fans are furious and Nick Meaney has thrown that ball further forward than Matthew Stafford will for the Rams at the MCG on Friday night.

Goodness me!

That's a wild forward pass that's been missed - and even in this league where the back pass rule is liberally applied at best, that was particularly egregious. My word.

10' IT'S ON! Ronaldo Mulitalo in the sin bin for striking

Riley Pollard kicked the ball high and was hit late, in the air, by Harry Grant.

He was just in the air.

Now there is a lot of push and shove.

Ronaldo Mulitalo has come in from the left wing to come across and slap one of the Storm players in the head.

For the third time this weekend, I will say "what an idiot" about a player in the NRL.

He hit Harry Grant.

It was the right call to penalise Grant in the first place, but Mulitalo has ensured his team will be down to 11 early in this game.

5' Penalty Storm, Gabrael sent to the sin bin

That's a nasty one.

Sharks debutant Michael Gabrael has smashed Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown with his shoulder/bicep and Tuimalatu-Brown is not in a good way.

Cameron McInnes went low, Gabrael went high and he has been folded.

The initial tackle meant that Tuimalatu-Brown was dropping slightly, but Gabrael was high and stood up in the tackle.

There is a lot of concern for this young winger.

The medical staff are worried about his neck and are taking a lot of time in getting him onto the stretcher.

He is now being carried off and Gabrael is sent to the sin bin.

I think that's reasonable - the tackler has to take some responsibility and, although that was clearly an accident, poor tackle technique is a plague on this sport and results in far too many of those sorts of injuries to players' heads.

Let's quickly go through the team news from Shark Park.

Sharks

A late change on game day, with Toby Rudolf starting and Jesse Colquhoun coming off the bench.

KL Iro also came to the bench but via the non-playing route, replacing Tukupa-Ke Hau Tapuha yesterday.

Nicho Hynes and Blayke Brailey are having a week off before finals, so Niwhai Puru starts at halfback and Riley Pollard debuts at five-eighth.

Hohepa Puru will start at hooker.

There's another debutant in Michael Gabrael, who will play centre.

Teig Wilson is also having the week off, with Billy Burns starting in his place.

Tom Hazelton has a ban to serve but will also be back next week.

Storm

No late changes for the Storm, who are unchanged from last week.

That means Perth-bound Tyran Wishart will make his 100th appearance for the Storm in his last game.

Tremendous debut

He played for Souths Logan Magpies in the Queensland Cup.

FT: Raiders win a wild one in Townsville

The Raiders have ended their NRL season on a high with a frenetic 56-30 victory over finals-bound North Queensland.

The Raiders ran in eight tries to five in a rollercoaster ride of a contest, belying the two sides status either side of the finals cut off.

First gamer Coby Black had a day to remember, scoring 26 points, a record for a debutant, as a wonderful illustration of what the future may hold for the Raiders.

While Josh Papali'i demonstrated the other end of the career scale with a try in his 342nd and final NRL game.

Xavier Savage scored a hat-trick for the Raiders, who signed off in the perfect way.

The Cowboys, though, have plenty to be concerned about ahead of a trip to Sydney next week for an elimination final.

The hosts' defence was woeful and Reuben Cotter may well face a ban should the judiciary find him guilty for a dangerous tackle on Papali'i in the very first tackle of the game.

Drinkwater makes yet another handling error at the other end and Xavier Savage makes a massive run up field.

The Raiders recycle, with Coby Black putting a tremendous kick for Simi Sasagi.

It's a magical kick.

Oh but hang on. The Bunker spots that Simi Sasagi is offside.

Josh Papali'i was ready to kick the goal.

Instead, it's a penalty to North Queensland.

73' Penalty Raiders!

Papali'i is stopped within a centimetre of the line!

That was a remarkable tackle.

But then the Raiders get a penalty! The Cowboys are furiously asking to challenge it — believing with some justification, I think, — that the veteran milked that.

Soni Luke it was, who was penalised. Blimey, that's soft.

They are not allowed to challenge a ruck speed call though and it's a penalty.

Coby Black is going to add two more to his tally, which stands at 26. The Raiders have 50, and the competition points.

It's 50-30.

71' Try Taumalolo!

Not even the One Ring could deny him...

Three Raiders hung off him, Taumalolo just kept on going forward, relentlessly, and found himself within reaching distance of the line, so he summoned another burst of power to dot down, dragging all three Raiders with him.

The kick is good, and it's 48-30.

70' Owen Pattie is down

Looks like cramp to me, but the Raiders are down a defender as the Cowboys pour forward.

The youngster breaks through the line and puts his foot down,. It was a crazy dummy, and then another one to get into space.

The defence closes and so he grubbers the ball forward to Ethan Strange, who dives over the line.

Coby Black kicks the extras.

He how has 24 points - the most points by any player at this level in history.

The Raiders ill-discipline has cost them all season and once again the tempers are beginning the fray.

Owen Pattie has delivered a text book shoulder charge and has been pinged for it, Noah Martin gets into the Cowboys players too.

The Cowboys work the short side and the ball pops up off the arm of Jed Stuart.

Drinkwater picked the ball up and then passed inside to Braidon Burns who went over to score.

He has gone down though, Burns, after Owen Pattie slid in and took him out late.

I don't know how that's not been put on report to be honest - they way things have been put on report so far this game.

The kick is good and Burns seems to be OK.

It's 24-36.
