Lebanese President Aoun: Israel does not comply with the framework agreement

According to the written statement made by the Lebanese Presidency, Aoun received US Congress members Darin LaHood and Josh Gottheimer and their accompanying delegation at the Baabde Palace in the east of the capital Beirut.

Avn stated that his country fully adhered to the framework agreement signed with Israel under the leadership of the USA, but Israel did not comply with the provisions of the agreement.

Calling on the USA to put pressure on Israel to implement the agreement, Aoun emphasized that the blasting, land leveling and demolition activities carried out by Israel in the towns it occupied in the south should be stopped.

Stating that Israel's delay in implementing the agreement will continue the tension in the south, Avn noted that this will prevent the spread of state authority to the region and the displaced people from returning to their homes.

Avn pointed out that the necessary facilities should be provided for the army to fulfill its wide-ranging duties.

LaHood stated that they appreciated Aoun's efforts to protect Lebanon's sovereignty and strengthen state authority, and said that the opportunity to bring stability back to Lebanon and the entire region should not be missed.

Israel and Lebanon signed a "framework agreement" under the mediation of the United States on June 26, aiming to end the conflict between the two countries and ensure long-term peace.

The agreement envisages Israel's gradual withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territory and the continuation of the negotiation process between the parties. However, despite the agreement reached, Israel continues its occupation and attacks in Lebanon.
