MAD warns of increasing Russian espionage in Germany

The Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD) warns against the use of hired agents and an increasing threat from hybrid attacks. Germany is a “prioritized intelligence target for Russian espionage activities,” according to the military intelligence service’s annual report. The reason for this is Germany's geostrategic location in Europe and NATO, the growth of the Bundeswehr and the introduction of new weapon systems. “The hybrid threat situation in Germany has continued to worsen,” wrote the MAD.
