"Mom wants to kill us." There is a final judgment regarding the crime at Wilanów

Dramatic events took place at the beginning of September 2022 in one of the apartments in Warsaw's Wilanów district. As investigators found, between Magdalena D.-M. and her husband had an argument. When the man left the apartment, the woman was left alone with her three children. Then a tragedy occurred - a one-month-old girl died from stab wounds, and her brothers, aged 3 and 9, were seriously injured.

The older boy, showing extraordinary courage, wrote a dramatic text message to his grandmother: "Mom wants to kill us." Thanks to the quick reaction of the family and the police, the boys' lives were saved. The mother escaped from the apartment, but was arrested after a few hours at the cemetery in Stare Babice.

The trial was closed to the public

Due to the well-being of the injured children and the issues of psychiatric opinions, the trial was held in public. The justification for the Supreme Court's judgment was also secret.

However, it is known that expert psychiatrists and a psychologist had no doubts - at the time of committing the crime, Magdalena D.-M. she was sane.

Long road to verdict

The first judgment was passed in January 2024 before the District Court in Warsaw. In November 2024, the Court of Appeal upheld the 25-year prison sentence and decided that the convicted person would be able to apply for parole after 20 years at the earliest.
