Inheritance Debate Murder in Mardin: Murderers of University Student Fırat Baraj Are Wanted

The incident took place on December 22, 2025 in Artuklu district. Hearing that Fırat Baraj, a student of Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Faculty of Law, had come to his hometown Mardin from Istanbul, his cousins ​​allegedly called him to Ravza Street to talk about the inheritance dispute.

The argument that broke out between the parties escalated into an armed fight. During the fight, Fırat Baraj was seriously injured by the bullet fired from the gun. Upon notice, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

Dam was taken to Mardin Training and Research Hospital after the intervention of medical teams. Dam, who was taken into treatment, died. Fırat Baraj's body was buried after the autopsy. An investigation has been launched to capture the escaped suspects.

Fırat Baraj's mother, Nazan Öztap, said that the security camera footage, in which the suspects claimed that they were kidnapped by their relatives in women's clothes and sheets, was added to the case file.

Öztap, who wanted the suspects who had fled abroad to be caught and punished, said, "My son's murderers have still not been found. We haven't knocked on the door, no one is left. I call out to my justice. On the night my son was shot, 1 hour after the incident, they escape from their uncle's house in women's clothes. There are images, camera recordings. Hear my voice now, please, I am very tired. Don't let Fırat's blood remain on the ground. I ask you to hear my scream." he said.

Mother Nazan Öztap said, "There are camera recordings of all the family members in a street below. There are those who escaped, they came out in women's clothes and sheets. It is a mystery how they got out of there after an hour. I complain about the whole family behind it. I also requested a search with a red notice. The fact that nothing has been found so far hurts me very seriously. I seek refuge in my state, I seek refuge in my God, I pray for divine justice."
