Marine Le Pen warns France against conflict with nuclear-armed Russia

BRUSSELS, September 25. /TASS/. The National Rally party’s presidential candidate and head of its parliamentary faction Marine Le Pen warned Paris against a conflict with Russia, which remains a nuclear power.

"I would like to remind you that Russia is a nuclear power," Le Pen told Politico in an interview. "I do not want France to go to war with any nuclear power."

She recalled a warning by France’s Napoleon-era statesman Charles Talleyrand, who said: "I know a thousand ways to lure the Russian bear out of its den, but I do not know a single way to get it back in."

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on September 21 that Russia strongly disagrees with and rejects statements by National Rally leaders Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella that Moscow is threatening Paris in an effort to alter its policy.
