Martínez-Almeida celebrates the return of Formula 1 to Madrid after forty years

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, was one of the VIP faces gathered this Sunday at the Madring Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The politician has highlighted the "feat" of deploying the Madrid grand prix "in just 15 months" and has predicted "a great future" for the circuit that this Sunday returns Madrid to the F1 calendar after forty years.

This is what he said in an interview with Telecinco, reported by Europa Press, in which he recalled that the first day of works was in June 2025 and stressed that "it was difficult to get there", especially due to the weather conditions that delayed work due to rain and snow.

"When we set ourselves a challenge, we know that we had the advantage of having a deadline and that you have to arrive no matter what. But, also, I insist, we have been able to do it in the best conditions," said the councilor, who has highlighted the work of Ifema Madrid.

Along these lines, they have expressed their chest that they have the "model" to organize the grand prix and that, although this being the first year "there will be things to improve", they are convinced that "Madrid works and works well."
