MBC 대주주인 방송문화진흥회(방문진) 이사회는 13일 오후 임시 이사회에서 사장 최종 후보자 2명을 공개 면접하고 투표한 결과 이성주 이사를 신임 사장 내정자로 선정했다.

이 내정자는 1995년 기자로 MBC에 입사해 2013년부터 2015년까지 전국언론노동조합 MBC본부 위원장을 맡았다. 이후 2020~2023년 미디어기획국장을 거쳐 2024년부터 iMBC 경영이사로 재직했다.

이 내정자는 14일 열리는 MBC 주주총회에서 사장으로 공식 선임될 예정이다. 임기는 3년이다.
