NEW Party Istanbul Deputy Suat Özcağdaş made a statement at the party headquarters regarding allegations of irregularities in the Ministry of National Education (MEB).

Reminding that MEB is Türkiye's largest ministry and that millions of personnel work in this ministry, Özcağdaş touched upon MEB's 2024 accounts and transactions.

'117 MILLION DAMAGES FROM THE STOOL ONLY'

Özcağdaş argued that in the Court of Accounts reports, the audit team detected a profiteering of over 600 million in tenders made by the Ministry of National Education, and according to some allegations, nearly 1 billion.

Özcağdaş, who claimed that the works and transactions carried out by the Ministry of Education were concluded to be an open robbery, said, "For example, they bought student stools. From this alone, they caused a loss of 117 million to the public. Again, they caused a loss to the public of 175 million from tables and chairs. Purchases were made without even asking the price, without supplying them from DMO."

THE MANAGER ALSO WORKED WITH KAYA

Özcağdaş blamed Support Services General Manager Ömür Fatih Karakullukçu for the issue and said that Karakullukçu was the former AKP Sivas Deputy candidate and the private secretary of former AKP Deputy Chairman Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who was arrested in the fund investigation, during the Ministry of Family period.

'RUELLESS AND FEARLESS'

Addressing Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Özçağdaş said, "There is nearly 1 billion cases of corruption in your Ministry. Come out and explain. You are an accomplice to the crime by not dismissing him (General Director of Support Services) after this was detected."
