Doctor arrested on suspicion of committing libidinous acts against patients during consultations in Paraíba

The doctor, whose identification was not disclosed, worked at a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in the rural area of ​​the municipality. The investigations began after a 20-year-old patient went to the police station and reported that she had been a victim of inappropriate sexual conduct during a consultation held on Wednesday morning.

According to the report, the doctor had used the justification of clinical procedures to perform intimate touching and manipulations without medical purposes, in addition to asking sexual questions during the service.

After the complaint, Civil Police teams began investigations at the health unit and identified other reports involving the professional's conduct. A second patient, aged 44, also contacted the police and reported having been subjected to similar situations during previous care at the same establishment.

Unit employees were also interviewed and reported inappropriate behavior and embarrassing situations attributed to the suspect. Thus, the doctor was arrested in the act and must undergo a custody hearing. In his testimony, he claimed that the contacts had exclusively diagnostic and assistance purposes.

To support the investigations, expert examinations were requested from the Scientific Police Institute (IPC), through the Center for Forensic Medicine and Dentistry (NUMOL), in addition to requesting images from the health unit's internal monitoring system.
