Mendonça removes PF director after allegations of monitoring of STF ministers

Mendonça based the decision on what he called "illegal monitoring" of STF ministers carried out by the PF. The minister cites six intelligence reports prepared between August 3 and 31, 2026.

The case, which is yet another development of the crisis in the Supreme Court, had repercussions among candidates for the Presidency of the Republic.

So far, Renan Santos (Missão), Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) and Romeu Zema (Novo) have commented on the matter. The three oppose President Lula (PT), who is seeking re-election.

In an interview with TV Jovem Pan this Tuesday (8), Renan Santos celebrated the measure and said that Mendonça "did well". "Macallan whiskey tastings come with a price. Andrei 'Vorcarizando', like many," he said.

In a note, sent by the press office, the Missão candidate criticized supporters of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and Lula (PT), who were celebrating the decision, and the respective candidates were also involved with the Master case.

"Are you celebrating that André Rodrigues fell because he had connections with Daniel Vorcaro? So your candidate had to fall too, right? You just want to defend your pet thief. But I see this fall with great happiness", he concluded.

On social media, Caiado praised "another firm and courageous decision by Minister André Mendonça". The PSD candidate reinforced that institutions need to act with "impartiality and strict respect for the Constitution".

Caiado also defended that Brazil needs a "firm stance in the STF and in any other institution in the country".

On social media, Zema celebrated the decision, recalling that the request for removal had been made by the Partido Novo. "We managed to remove the Chief of the PF", he said. The post was accompanied by a montage with a photo of Mendonça and Andrei Rodrigues side by side.

The Novo candidate also declared: “No more untouchables”. "While many talk, we do it. And we will remain firm against the untouchables", he stated.

The other candidates have not yet commented on the matter.
