Six-year-old girl dies after house catches fire in João Alfredo

A six-year-old girl died during a house fire, in the city of João Alfredo, in Agreste de Pernambuco. Images sent to TV Globo show the house on fire and the destruction to the property after the fire was put out.

In a statement, the city council lamented the death of Maria Liz Prazeres Santos. The fire started in the early hours of Saturday (17) and, according to neighbors, it started in a fan that was on.

In addition to the girl, two other children were alone in the house, which is in the Raul Soares neighborhood. There is no information about the health status of the two.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the Fire Department managed to control the flames, but, upon entering the property, they found the girl already dead. An investigation was set up by the Limoeiro Police Station, also in Agreste.
