Mersin Mayors and 59 Suspects Detained in Corruption Investigation

Within the scope of the "corruption" investigation carried out by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 59 suspects, including Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer, Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer, were detained on October 1.

The testimony of Seçer and the mayors started at 10.15 in the morning and ended at 20.35. Vahap Seçer and other mayors are expected to be referred to the courthouse tomorrow morning after a health check.

Thereupon, the CHP Provincial Directorate made a call in front of the Mersin Courthouse titled "Mersin stands up for its elect". The statement made at 07:00 said, "We are meeting together at the Mersin Courthouse to raise our voices against the unfair and unlawful detention of our mayors."

According to the information obtained, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş will come to Mersin to support Seçer.
