Amazon Cargo Plane Crash in Miami-Dade: 5 Deaths, 5 Injured

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said at a press conference that the Amazon cargo plane crashed after leaving the runway while landing at the airport at 13:58 local time yesterday.

Cordero-Stutz stated that 5 people died in the accident and 5 injured people were taken to surrounding hospitals.

Sources speaking to local media stated that most of the injured were pilots, and noted that the cargo plane hit some vehicles on the road during the accident.

While the authorities did not make a statement about the identities of the dead and injured, they stated that the investigation into the accident was continuing.

Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel confirmed the accident in a statement to CNN, saying, "This is a rapidly evolving situation and we are still gathering details. We are working closely with local authorities and officials to understand exactly what happened." he said.

In the first images shared on social media, it was seen that the giant cargo plane was lying sideways in the middle of the road outside the runway and black smoke was rising from its still intact body.
