Milan, house arrest for two local police officers involved in the Corsico investigation

The Milan Review Court has ordered house arrest for Vincenzo Compagnone and Mattia Rignanese, the two Local Police officers arrested on 6 August on charges of embezzlement, forgery and illegal arrest.

In yesterday's hearing, the defense composed of lawyers Giovanni Briola, Daniela Mazzocchi and Giacomo Gualtieri had asked for the revocation of precautionary custody in prison or, alternatively, a less afflictive measure, contesting in particular the current danger of evidentiary pollution.

In the courtroom the lawyers also presented new defense elements on the disputed appropriation of 1,450 euros, including the testimony of the confidante used in the anti-drug operation, according to which the money would be returned at the end of the operation.

At the center of the investigation by prosecutor Giovanni Tarzia is the arrest of an alleged pusher which took place in Corsico on 16 July. According to the accusation, the five officers would have operated outside the territory of competence of the Local Police and, after the arrest, they would have appropriated the 1,450 euros. The hearing for the other two officers detained in San Vittore, Denni Dileo and Rosario Piscopo, is scheduled for Tuesday 25 August. Commissioner Ilenja Sabato, however, is already under house arrest after the interrogation before the investigating judge Elio Sparacino.
