ASLIHAN ALTAY KARATAŞ / ANKARA - President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who made an Address to the Nation after the Cabinet meeting that lasted approximately 3.5 hours at the Presidential Complex, said the following in summary:
ACCIDENT IN MANİSA: May God have mercy on our 11 citizens who lost their lives in the tragic traffic accident in Manisa, and I offer my condolences to their families and relatives. 13 of our 26 citizens have been discharged, and the treatment of 13 of our brothers and sisters, 2 of whom are in intensive care, is still continuing.
IT WOULD BE A TRAITOR TO ISTANBUL: 5 of our citizens lost their lives in the collapsed building in Maltepe, Istanbul. This painful incident in Maltepe has once again shown how vital the urban transformation issue of Istanbul is. Postponing the earthquake in Istanbul, ignoring it, or sacrificing it to daily political conflicts would be betraying Istanbul.
We are sick and tired of people saying "profitable transformation" every time we talk about urban transformation. No one has and can have the right to play with our people's lives because of their ideological memorization.
THE CAPITAL OF URBAN TRANSFORMATION: As the government, we are determined to accelerate our urban transformation mobilization despite the indifference displayed at the local administration level. We see Istanbul, the legacy of Fatih, as the capital of this urban transformation campaign. We made one out of every two urban transformations in Turkey in Istanbul. Since 2012, we have included 1 million 298 thousand independent sections in Istanbul within the scope of transformation. We have completed the transformation of 1 million 7 thousand independent sections. We brought nearly 5 million of our citizens to their safe homes.
I call out once again to my brothers in Istanbul. Please do not postpone the steps to be taken regarding urban transformation. Take action today to reconcile with your neighbors, initiate the necessary procedures, and get a safe home.
WE STAND WITH SAUDI ARABIA: We condemn in the strongest terms the attacks carried out by the Houthis on October 10, targeting Riyadh King Khalid International Airport, in which 12 people lost their lives and 309 people were injured. Türkiye stands by Saudi Arabia and its Saudi brothers against unlawful and inhumane attacks.

In his speech, Erdoğan said, "We are making intense efforts to resolve the fund issue quickly," and continued as follows: Since our previous Cabinet meeting, many positive steps have been taken, from the appointment of our State Supervisory Board to the formation of our Fund Coordination Board, from informing our Grand National Assembly of Turkey to submitting the bill to the discretion of our Assembly on matters requiring legal regulation, from the start of the transfer of Katılım Evim, Birevim and İktisat Katılım Bank to Emlak Katılım, to the start of the payments of the funds whose central registry procedures have been completed. was thrown away.
ACTION WAS TAKEN AGAINST 282 PEOPLE: Investigations on the judicial side of the issue continue meticulously and in depth. Legal action was taken against 282 people, including board members of fund companies. While 84 of them were arrested, an arrest warrant was issued for 27 suspects. Judicial control measures were imposed on 99 people.
After the bill is passed by our Parliament, principal payments of up to 1 million lira will begin in October. Following the completion of ordinary and extraordinary liquidations in October, a significant portion of investors will have received their interim payments.
THOSE WHO PROVIDE UNFAIR PROFIT WILL PAY THE PRICE: Protecting our nation's rights and laws is our red line. Anyone who has made exorbitant returns and gained unfair profits through speculation and manipulation will definitely pay the price. Others may support robbers, those who seize the nation's property, and those who resort to unlawful acts, simply because of their affiliation with a political party. He can take them under his wing. He can travel from city to city and organize rallies for them. We are not like them. Such a situation can never happen in our style of politics or our understanding of state management. We will hold accountable anyone who goes beyond the legitimate limits of the law.
NO HONORABLE EXECUTION ALLOWED: We are determined to implement whatever is necessary to prevent our country from facing a similar problem in this period. With additional regulations, we will strengthen the structure of our capital markets against such microbes and hopefully make their functioning much healthier. Of course, while taking these steps, we will not allow those who are up to their necks in mud to act as honor executioners against our staff and cabinet members with the logic of 'throw mud, leave a trace' and the politics of hatred. No one in Turkey, including myself, is above criticism. But no one's title, profession or position gives them the right to assassinate someone else's reputation using FETO methods.
