Minister André Mendonça releases PF report linking Alexandre de Moraes to banker Daniel Vorcaro

Minister André Mendonça, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), released for judgment the Federal Police report that points to a link between minister Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro, arrested due to fraud investigations at the head of Banco Master. Now, it will be up to the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, to decide when the investigation request will be analyzed.

Mendonça's decision to release the case for trial was published this Sunday (6), at 3:04 pm. There is no request for a date for the report to go to trial.

On Tuesday (1st), André Mendonça, who is the rapporteur of the Master case, removed the confidentiality of the PF report that showed dialogues between Alexandre de Moraes and the banker, including a message in which the banker asked whether he should leave the country, on the eve of being arrested, in 2025. There is no information on what the Supreme Minister's response was.

The report against Moraes triggered an internal crisis in the STF. The minister counterattacked and requested an investigation against Mendonça as part of the fake news investigation, alleging that there was abuse of authority, administrative improbity and a crime of responsibility on the part of Mendonça in the investigation request.

Fachin last week ordered Mendonça, Moraes, the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, and the Director General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, to provide information on the Federal Police report regarding the dialogues with Vorcaro.

He also withdrew the request to open an investigation made by Alexandre de Moraes against André Mendonça from the fake news investigation, as well as defending the end of this investigation, opened in 2019 by order of then president Dias Toffoli.

The information collected by the PF under Mendonça's possession also showed that Moraes made edits to the R$131 million contract signed between the office of his wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes, and Banco Master, before the document was signed.

The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, has already declared the nullity of the report of conversations between Vorcaro and Moraes. He said that Mendonça "used the police" to "impose the investigation" of the minister, carrying out "activities that were not reported to him".
