Mongrassano: shoots his ex-partner and attempts suicide

A 30-year-old man shot his ex-partner of the same age and then attempted to take his own life. Both are hospitalized in the Annunziata hospital in Cosenza. The episode occurred in Mongrassano, in the Cosenza area, while the two were having a lively discussion.

The thirty-year-old, after shooting at his ex-partner, attempted to take his own life using the same gun. The 118 health workers and the police intervened on site. The two injured were urgently transported to the hospital in the Bruzio capital. The investigations are entrusted to the Carabinieri to clarify the precise dynamics of the facts. The woman is now in the operating room and the doctors do not consider her life in danger. However, the conditions of the man who, after shooting the woman, attempted to take his own life with the same gun are more serious. The doctors at the Cosenza hospital will have to subject him to head surgery, his life would not be in danger either.

Meanwhile, the Carabinieri's investigations continue, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Cosenza, to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and the motive for the gesture.

The couple, according to initial investigations, had lived in Germany and had subsequently separated. The woman had returned to Calabria and the man joined her yesterday, probably in an attempt to reconnect. Faced with the latter's refusal, the argument between the two degenerated and the thirty-year-old shot her, before turning the weapon against himself to try to take his own life.
