'Nonna Silvi' cooking influencer with 4 million followers has died

Nonna Silvi, the cook and influencer who became known nationally and internationally thanks to the contents dedicated to traditional Tuscan cuisine published on social networks, has passed away at the age of 85. The woman, Silvia Bini, died last night in her home in Montespertoli, in the province of Florence. The news was announced by the grandchildren through a message on the official 'nonnasilvi' page.

"A fulminant illness, in just 20 days, took Nonna Silvi away. She left us surrounded by the love of her family, with her children and grandchildren by her side. Even in those moments she continued to talk to us, asking what there was to do and how work was going. A unique woman, of rare strength, who gave every single bit of energy she had in her body to the family."

The post also announces that "the company will be closed for two days of mourning. Then we will leave again, more determined than before, taking with us everything she taught us. With grandmother watching over us from above, we will do everything to ensure that the dream we had together continues to live".

Nonna Silvi's activity began in 2022, when her grandchildren Gabriele and Simone Martini began making videos while she was cooking inside the Forno Martini in Castelfiorentino, owned by the family. The videos soon went viral on social media, reaching around 4.3 million followers on Instagram, 2.1 million on TikTok and over one million on Facebook. In 2024 she went to Qatar to cook for the Al-Thani royal family, the following year she received recognition from Forbes and the 2025 TikTok Award.

The funeral is scheduled for Monday afternoon in Montespertoli, in the church of Sant'Andrea.
