Actress Hayden Panettiere dies at age 35 in Greenville

Actress Hayden Panettiere, star of films such as Scream, died without the authorities investigating her death finding any signs of violence or suspicious circumstances, according to People magazine.

The publication adds that police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a residence in the town of Greenville, South Carolina, upon receiving reports of an unconscious woman around 1:50 p.m. local time on Sunday.

According to emergency recordings obtained by the magazine, officials were heard talking about an 'overdose' and 'cardiac arrest.' The authorities were alerted by a 911 call made by a friend of the actress, TMZ reported citing police sources.

Emergency crews attempted to revive Panettiere using "advanced cardiac life support" and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but the performer was pronounced dead minutes later.

Official authorities are investigating his death, but so far they have found no signs of criminal activity or suspicious circumstances, according to the same sources. Panettiere had spoken openly over the years about his problems with alcohol and drugs, and stepped away from the industry in 2016 before returning in 2023 with Scream VI.

Last May he published his memoirs, in which he wrote candidly about these difficulties and the impact of growing up in Hollywood.

Industry peers such as actress Viola Davis, Bethany Joy Lenz, Melissa Barrera and other celebrities have paid tribute to Panettiere.

Hayden Panettiere began her career as a child star and developed a long career in television and film, but she is remembered for her role as Claire Bennet in the hit series Heroes. Also as Juliette Barnes in the musical drama Nashville, for which she received two Golden Globe nominations.
