No release in Muhittin Böcek case

The 4th hearing of the case in which 41 defendants, including Muhittin Böcek, were tried within the scope of the "bribery" and "corruption" investigation against Antalya Metropolitan Municipality was held.

Arrested defendants Muhittin Böcek and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek attended the hearing at Antalya 6th High Criminal Court.

CLAIM OF MILLIONS OF MONEY TRAFFIC

Witnesses were heard at the hearing. Ahmet P., Serkan Ç., who works as a sales consultant in a jeweler. He claimed that documents were prepared in exchange for the "gold exchange" transaction, first for 2 million 300 thousand liras, and later for approximately 4 million 350 thousand liras, which were brought to the workplace by Gökhan Böcek.

Ahmet P. claimed that the money in question was sent to Muhittin Böcek's daughter-in-law, Zuhal Böcek, and Nurhak E.

Witness Fatih A. said that Serkan Ç. received the money he brought in February and May, counted it and then gave it to the safe.

Unarrested defendant Serkan Ç. He said that he took 2.5 million lira worth of foreign currency in a store bag, and 4 million 350 thousand lira in a suitcase on the second trip.

“I WAS ARRESTED BECAUSE I AM MUHITTIN BÖCEK'S SON”

Mustafa Gökhan Böcek stated that he had been detained for approximately 13 months and that he had responded to the accusations against him from the first day.

Böcek demanded his release and said:

"I have been detained for about 13 months. I was arrested because I am Muhittin Böcek's son. I was separated from my child, my wife, my family. My child was 9 months old, now he is 22 months old. This period in my son's life is almost half of his life."

Arguing that there was no possibility of him escaping or obscuring evidence, Böcek asked for his release by applying judicial control measures.

“I AM DEALING WITH SLANDERS AND FABRICS”

Muhittin Böcek also argued that he has been contributing to the judicial process transparently since July 5, 2025.

Stating that he has been detained for approximately 15 months, Böcek said:

"Lately, I have been dealing with the slander and fabrications of those who took advantage of my detention. My constitutional rights are being violated. We are entrusted to the state and justice."

Asking for his health status to be taken into consideration, Böcek said, "I have not done anything wrong throughout my life. I have not caused public harm to my municipality. I have not taken 10 days off during my 6-term presidency. I have dedicated my life to my fellow citizens."

THERE WAS NO RELEASE FROM THE COURT

The court panel, which announced its interim decision after the defenses and statements, rejected the release requests of Muhittin Böcek and Mustafa Gökhan Böcek.

The court decided to continue the detention of the father and son and postponed the hearing.
