Cleaning effort marks World Cleanup Day in the region

The collective effort began at 9 am and was part of the World Cleanup Day program. Environmental projects, educational institutions, scout groups and residents of the region participated.

During collection, the waste was separated, weighed and recorded. The survey helps to identify the types of materials found in the environment and can serve as a basis for research and conservation actions.

The initiative also draws attention to the impacts that inadequate waste disposal can have on marine fauna and flora.

“This is work that we are constantly developing here at the Albatroz Project, and these actions also help to understand the main materials found in the environment.” said Daniele Rocha, visitation coordinator for Projeto Albatroz.
