'I was born again', says man who had car shot during chase with shooting and injuries in Porto Alegre

The case took place on Friday afternoon (6) on Garibaldi Street, between Independência and Cristóvão Colombo avenues, and ended with three people shot, including a military police officer, a suspect and a man with no direct participation in the crime.

According to the Military Brigade, the incident began after a robbery at a restaurant in the region. Three men allegedly took cell phones and around R$20,000 in cash. An employee called the police and informed them of the direction taken by the suspects. When teams arrived at the scene, the pursuit began.

The exchange of gunfire took place on a stretch of Garibaldi Street and mobilized police and forensic teams. Part of the area needed to be isolated for investigation work.

The injured military police officer was treated and is not at risk of death. One of the suspects who was shot also received medical attention.

Two people involved were arrested. The police continue to search for a third man who, according to the investigation, also participated in the robbery. According to the commander of the 9th Military Police Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Fabrício Rocha da Silveira, searches continue in Porto Alegre to locate the suspect.
