Korea Information and Communications Technology Association holds the 9th NATO NWCSP meeting in Seoul

Approximately 100 domestic and foreign defense and standards experts attended

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Hyeong-bin = The Korea Telecommunication Technology Association (TTA) announced that the 9th meeting of 'NWCSP', the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defense communications standardization project, will be held in Seoul from the 28th to the 2nd of next month.

NWCSP is a standardization project to apply commercial mobile communication technologies such as 5G and 6G to the defense sector, and governments, private organizations, and companies from NATO allies and partner countries participate.

In Korea, the Ministry of National Defense, Korea Institute for Defense Analyzes, and TTA are participating, and KT [030200] will dispatch 5G and 6G standardization experts from this meeting. About 100 people, including domestic and foreign defense officials and standards experts, are expected to attend the event.

Participants plan to share the status of each country's progress in the 5G and 6G defense fields and discuss the direction of communication standard development.

In particular, it is expected that standard documents for application of the latest mobile communication technologies, such as satellite communication and wireless backhaul, to the defense sector will be discussed and agreements between countries will be promoted.

TTA plans to use this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of National Defense, prepare guidelines for introducing 5G and 6G technology in the defense sector, and support the domestic defense and communications industries in responding to international standards.

TTA Chairman Son Seung-hyun said, "The application of commercial mobile communication technologies such as 5G/6G to the defense sector is a task that must be solved jointly by the private sector and the national defense sector. We will further strengthen civil-military cooperation with related organizations, including the Ministry of National Defense, and take the lead in international standardization discussions."
