NC Corp.'s Q1 net income surges over fourfold on strong PC games business

NC Corp.'s first-quarter net income increased by more than fourfold from a year earlier on its strong PC games business.

The company's net income for the January-March period was 152.4 billion won (US$102.2 million), a surge of 306.4 percent from a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing.

The video game developer and publisher posted 113.3 billion won in operating profit for the quarter, shooting up 2,070 percent on-year. Sales also rose a solid 54.7 percent to 557.4 billion won.

NC said its strong first-quarter performance was led by robust sales of its PC-based games, which posted the highest quarterly figure on record of 318.4 billion won.

Sales from its mobile game business came to 182.8 billion won during the cited period.

The company's mobile casual business, which includes two game publishers that NC acquired last year, generated 35.5 billion won in sales.

By region, 58 percent of sales came from South Korea, 27 percent from other Asian countries, and 15 percent from North America and Europe, the company said.
