Netflix will invest 10 billion TL in Türkiye

Netflix announced a new plan in the tenth year of its activities in Türkiye. Within the scope of Netflix Türkiye investment, the company will spend a total of 10 billion TL on local TV series and movies in the 2026-2028 period. However, the distribution of investment by years is not clear.

Additionally, the number of productions to be shot and the cities where they will be shot were not shared. Therefore, the details of the plan are not fully known for now. Netflix expects to create employment in the industry with new shootings. At the same time, it aims to ensure that more productions produced in Türkiye reach world audiences.

Netflix Türkiye investment and the first ten years

Diego Ávalos, vice president of content for Spain, Portugal, Türkiye and the Middle East, shared some data. Accordingly, the company shot in more than 30 cities from Edirne to Kars in its first ten years. He also released more than 90 local productions.

These productions entered Netflix's top 10 most watched content list in more than 90 countries. On the other hand, Avalos said that they plan to shoot in different regions of Anatolia in the new period. Thus, the shootings are expected to spread to many cities again.

Export and tax regulation of Turkish TV series

Head of the Presidential Investment and Finance Office A. Burak Dağlıoğlu also evaluated the announcement. According to Dağlıoğlu, Turkish TV series are exported to 190 countries. Additionally, these productions reach more than 1 billion viewers worldwide.

Moreover, TV series exports generate revenues of over 1 billion dollars. Dağlıoğlu also stated that within the scope of the Strong Center for Investments Türkiye program, the tax rate applied to service export revenues was reduced to zero. Therefore, the tax burden on services sold abroad has been eliminated within the framework of this program.

Project day and training for new talents

Netflix will hold an event called Next Story: Netflix Project Pitch Day on November 30 to evaluate new projects. Participants who have not previously participated in a Netflix Türkiye production as a screenwriter, director or producer will be able to present their projects to the company's content teams. Therefore, the event offers a separate opportunity for new entrants to the industry.

To date, the company has organized more than 40 free training programs in areas such as scriptwriting, directing, adaptation and visual effects. In addition, in the Türkiye Talent Map program, which has been going on for two years, young people were given training in cities such as Çanakkale, Mardin, Konya and Hatay.

Netflix will carry this program to three more cities in the new period. The first concrete step within the scope of Netflix Türkiye investment will be the project presentation day on November 30.
