Nigel Farage has won the Clacton by-election with approximately 63% of the vote, regaining the parliamentary seat he resigned from a month prior. The election was triggered to prove voter support amid an investigation into an undeclared £5 million gift from Thailand-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. Farage claims the gift was personal and not required to be declared.

Comedian Jon Harvey, running as the novelty candidate 'Count Binface,' secured roughly 27% of the vote, his best result to date. Count Binface's platform included satirical promises such as cutting taxes for some while raising them for others, building one affordable home, and nationalizing singer Adele.

Britain's major parties boycotted the election, leaving Farage to face 33 mostly independent and novelty candidates. Despite winning, Farage's political troubles are not resolved, as the parliamentary investigation into the gift is expected to resume and could potentially force him from his seat again.

Essex police reported no credible threats despite Farage's claim of an 'organized campaign to disrupt' the count, leading to his absence from the official count and cancellation of a planned victory speech. Farage stated, 'I am damned if I am going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory... and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies.'

The win comes as Reform UK's national polling slips behind a resurgent Labour Party under new Prime Minister Andy Burnham. A recent Survation poll had predicted Farage would secure 73% of the vote, a figure he fell short of. Count Binface's result exceeded expectations of not surpassing 20%.

Count Binface, the alter ego of Jon Harvey, is a serial novelty candidate known for satirizing UK politics with absurd campaign promises. His performance in Clacton highlights the tradition of such candidates in UK elections, often drawing attention in boycotted or less competitive races.
